Polibotánica Open Access Policy

Polibotánica is an open access journal committed to the free dissemination of scientific knowledge, in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). The journal adopts the following policy:

  1. Immediate and free access
All published articles are immediately available for free reading, downloading, copying, and distribution, with no access restrictions for readers.

  2. Usage license
Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license. This license allows third parties to share and adapt the content for non-commercial purposes, provided that:

    • Proper credit is given to the authors and the journal.

    • Any derivative works are licensed under the same terms.

  3. Copyright and self-archiving
Authors retain their moral rights and grant the journal the exclusive right of first publication. Authors are allowed to self-archive the published version in institutional, thematic, or personal repositories, provided the original source is properly cited.

  4. Article Processing Charges (APC)
A publication fee is required upon manuscript acceptance to cover editorial management, layout, metadata generation, and platform maintenance.
No fees are charged for submission or peer review.

  5. Digital preservation and visibility
While Polibotánica does not currently participate in LOCKSS or PKP PN, it ensures long-term visibility and preservation of its content by submitting JATS XML files to the SciELO network, enabling inclusion in trusted digital repositories and academic indexing platforms.

  6. Compliance with funders’ mandates
This policy complies with national and international funding agencies’ open access mandates, allowing article deposit and reuse in accordance with the stated license.
