PLANTAS UTILIZADAS EN LA ARTESANÍA POPULAR EN EL MUNICIPIO SANTIAGO DE CUBA, CUBA
Abstract
A study was conducted about the use
of plants in the production of traditional
handicrafts in Santiago de Cuba
Municipality, Cuba. Both native and nonnative species were utilized, these
predominantly Magnoliophyta and
belonging to 131 infrageneric taxa, 124
genera, and 27 families (mainly Poaceae
and Fabaceae). Six plant structures were
used to make the handicrafts, of which
flowers and leaves were the most important.
