Abstract

The archaeological zone of Teotihuacán,
located in Estado de Mexico comprises an
area of 200 hectares of prehispanic
buildings. In this area they were found
seven sites inhabited for a total of 250
species related with phanerogamic flora.
In each one of these sites was found
different amount of species: I. In
buildings that had not been restored
(211 spp.); II. Buildings restored with a
constant process of maintenance (75
spp.); III. Buildings restored with a year
without maintenance (63 spp.); IV.
Buildings restored with ten years
without maintenance (99 spp.); V.
Buildings with masonry and ground
tepetate (99 spp.); VI. Tezontle pebble
grabble in floors and corridors (60
spp.); and VII. in antique rubbish that
appeared as a result of the restoration
of the east front of the Pyramid of the
Sun that presented 39 species.
Taking into account the distribution of
the species on the seven sites, we may
classified them in families and species,
obtaining the result of the same four
floristicgroups. At first, group number
one (I) presented 48 families; group
number two (II, III), 29; number three (IV,
V), 34 and the group number four (VI;
VII), formed by 27 families. In the second,
group number one (I) presented 211
species; number two (II, III), 79 spp.;
number three (IV, V) , 130 spp. and the
group number four (VI, VII), was formed
by 80 species.
T h e f a m i l i e s t h a t w e r e b e s t
represented for their abundance of
species were Compositae (47 spp.),
Gramineae (30 spp.), and Leguminosae
with 18 species.
From the 250 species founded, 244 were
included in the Mexican Valley
Phanerogamic Flora, and six of these
species were added to the registers of
known vegetation of the archaelogical
zone of Teotihuacan, this is the contribution
of the present study: Calyptocarpus
vialis Less, Fuirena simplex Vahl.,
Heliotropium angiospermum Murray
y Opunta davissi Engelmann et
Bigelow, and Waltheria indica L.
