Abstract

Quantification of T 514 (peroxisomicine
A1), a dimeric hydroxyanthracenone with
potential antineoplasic effect is described
which was accomplished in two species of
genus Karwinskia, collected in differen
locations of Mexico. The best source for
the extraction of this compound proved to
be Karwinskia parvifolia. This species was
collected in Sinaloa and Sonora; the results
showed a high amount of peroxisomicine
A1, scarce stational variation and the
presence of a few number of secondary
metabolites which could interfere with the
procedure of extraction and purification.
